~Signs of a PK Haunting- (Human Agent Poltergeist)~
Taken from “Ghost Hunters Guidebook”-written by Troy Taylor

In cases like this, the movement of physical objects can be sudden and violent, and occur more frequently than in cases involving actual, interactive spirits.

  • Reports will often escalate as time goes by but will peak early and then fade away.
  • Keep an eye out for a young female or an adolescent to be present in the house. Usually the activity will be centered around this person in particular. They can be isolates or removed from the house to rule out connected activity.
  • Always try to rule out human involvement (including fraud) before assuming that the phenomena has anything to do with ghosts.

Traditional Haunting

~Signs of a Traditional or Intelligent Haunting~
Taken from “Ghost Hunters Guidebook”- written by Troy Taylor

Most Intelligent spirits will manifest in physical ways in an attempt to interact with those at the location.
This will include:

  • slamming doors
  • windows that open and close
  • cold chills and a strong presence

On rare occasions, the spirit will be seen and, when it is, it will most likely look as it did when alive. However, the witness should be sure that the visible spirit interacts and is not merely an imprint, or memory image.

Residual Haunting

This type of case is the investigator’s best chance to see a ghost. It is more common to visibly spot an apparition when investigating this type of case and, traditionally, have provided the best opportunity to do so.

  • The ghosts reported will be like moving pictures and will be unaware of the living people around them. Such cases do not have any interaction between the ghost and the witnesses.
  • Strange sounds are common, like footsteps, voices, knocking, rapping, etc.
  • Residual hauntings will not involve missing or vanishing items, as there is no consciousness present. While windows or doors may be opened and closed, it is because of energy expanding itself, not because it is physically being manipulated by spirits.
  • There may be high levels of humidity at the location, as this seems to be a possible sign that a residual haunting is taking place. It’s been suggested that water embedded in the location may hold a sort of “recording” of the haunting that is taking place.

Portal Hauntings

The majority of events that might fit into a “portal haunting” category seem to come from cemeteries, although no location can be ruled out. With cemeteries, the best way to watch for them is to be on the lookout for graveyards that are rumored to be haunted. Be aware of stories (from cemeteries and other spots) that involve glowing balls of light that are seen with the naked eye, odd creatures, strange shapes, or unexplained images.

With a home or building, these doorways can be harder to ascertain. In this type of haunting though, the spirits that are present may be more numerous than in a traditional haunting and are always unconnected to the history of the building. The site may be nothing more than a crossover point, which can be confusing to those doing research.

These Things May Help The Ghost Hunter

•November 11, 2007 • Leave a Comment

These things might help you on your ghost hunts, but be careful how you use them. Do your homework.

Ouija Board- A piece of wood bearing the letters of the alphabet that is used as a tool to make contact with the spirit world. Sitters place their fingers lightly on the planchette (or pointer) by which the spirits can spell out messages on the board.

Seances-A sittingthat is held for the purpose of the communication with the deaf. At least one person in the circle is preferred to be a medium, with the power of contacting the spirits.

Mediums-A person that is allegedly sensitive beyond the normal means. Such a person may be able to see and hear things that are not available to most people.

Dowsing Rods-Two L-shaped metal rods that are used to find and pick up paranormal energy. If you find a hot spot the rods will cross each other letting you know that you have captured something. This is also used for finding water sources such as wells.

•November 11, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Hi Everyone,

We are going on our first house investigation tonight. We are going to a friend’s house in Western PEI. Their has been some activity at this locale for many years, so they asked us if we would come and take a look. This will also give us some expeirence using our equipment such as the EMF reader as well as getting some knowledge on interviewing witnesses. We will let you know how it went and if we find anything we will post it. Wish us luck.

Here is a story that has been shared with me. I was told I could share it with you…….(long story but well worth the read .) I switched names of the people around to protect their identity but the rest of the words are their own…..

Back in the early 1900’s, many families in the area were struck with a terrible virus known in them days as “consumption”. When it struck a house, it tended to wipe out the whole family. That’s what it did to this family in Portage.

A house owned at that time by a man by the name of Patrick MacDonald lived in the small quaint house with his wife and kids. The family was struck with the deadly disease and one by one, they all died in that house.

Back then, many believed (and most still do today) that the house became haunted by the family. The house sat vacant for decades.

After many years of trying to sell the house and no one willing to purchase, the extended family members of Patrick MacDonald decided that they might have better luck selling the land if the house was tore down.

In 1956, a man by the name of “Harold” used to work for a company that hauled homes and buildings. He heard that the house was going to be tore down and thought of the piece of land he was planning to give to his daughter and new son-in-law and thought it would be a great starter home for them and the kids. His boss said that he’d be kind to let him move it and the owners of the home were happy to let him have it for the cost of the move.

After being empty for so many years, the house was in need of alot of TLC and many repairs but between the men in the family working on the structure and the women working on the inside…the house soon became a home again. Harold’s daughter, “Louise” and her husband and children moved in.

Some time passed and then things began to happen that made them wonder about the house…
One morning, Louise woke up and could feel an aweful draft in the room. She got up out of bed and walked out toward the kitchen where the front door was. It was wide open and the cold air from outside was rushing in. Thinking it must have blown in during the night, she went over and shut it again.

A few weeks later, the same thing happened again. The door was found open in the morning. Lots of reasoning was thought for this……

1) The latch did not catch..
2) My husband forgot to shut it tight.
3) someone is playing a prank.
4) old house and the building is shifting.

Lots of different reasons for this to be happening Louise surmised. That night she decided that she would solve the problem tempararily until she could get to the hardware store and get a proper lock to bolt the door. That would work! She shoved a butcher knife in the door frame and across the door. There! That will keep it closed tonight.

She went up the stairs, put her bedclothes on, checked one more time on the kids, and went to bed.

About 3:00 am, Louise found herself trembling in bed. It was so cold she could see her breath in the air. “No, it can’t be” she thought to herself. She got up and went down to the kitchen.
There was the door wide open and the cold air rushing into the kitchen. Where is the knife? She looked around and found it. There it was acros the kitchen floor to the other side of the room. How did it get there? It didn’t fall and slide over there, that was impossible. No one else moved it, her husband was not home for the night. The kids were all sound asleep and were too small to reach the knife. Louise stood there in the kitchen in amazement. She knew ……It was Paddy.

For many years other little things would happen. Louise would swear she heard someone call her her name…but there would be no one there. The kids would come in and ask what she wanted only to find that she never called them. A door would slam or something would fall only to find nothing moved out of place or no doors shut.

One day, Louise had some company drop by to visit. The kids were all in school and Louise was home making bread and doing the laundry for the day. She sat down for a spell and enjoyed a cup of tea with her neighbor, Mr. Coughlin. Some time had passed and Mr. Coughlin asks Louise, “So who’s baby are you watching today?” Louise looked at him, a little puzzled, “No babies here” she said and smiled “Mine are all grown and off to school remember”. Mr. Coughlin looked at her with a very confused look on his face. “There are no babies here?” he said. Louise shook her head. Mr. Coughlin stood up quickly and made for the door. He was all flustered and panicked.
A few days later, Louise ran into some friends at the corner store. One of the ladies said to Louise, “I guess you gave Mr. Coughlin an aweful fright. He was telling us how your house is haunted.” Louise looked at them with a look of surprise. The lady went on to tell Louise that while Mr. Coughlin was visiting her, he could hear a baby crying in the other room. It was as clear as a bell. He was surprised to see her just sit there and not acknowledge the crying. Mr. Coughlin never went back to that house again. From then on, everyone knew that the house was haunted. Louise, however, was very content and was not afraid of the ghost.

Louise and her husband were not getting along very well. One day, he packed up his bags, left, and never come back.

Years later, one spring, Harold and some of the other men of the family were burning the old grass from the field behind the house, clearing it for the season crops. The fire began to get out of control and the wind picked up. All of a sudden, the wind shifted direction. Harold turned around and saw Louise’s house on fire. There was no stopping it. With the house so old, it went up like match. The house burnt to the ground. Louise and the kids moved in with her parents for a few years until one year, her father got a great deal and found a house that was for sale to move. They bought it and moved it to the spot where the previous house once stood.
After a long day of getting all moved in, Louise went around, tucked the kids into their beds, went to her bedroom, got dressed for bed and crawled in. She layed there reading a book. After a little while, she began to get a little chill. No, not a chill, a draft? She got up and began to walk to the kitchen of the house.

There was the door, wide open and the breeze from the night rushing in. Louise smiled, closed the door and said, “Welcome home Paddy.” She went back to bed and went to sleep.

Louise swears that Paddy has been with her everywhere she has moved and is still with her to this very day.

After going over everything we had gathered up from the first investigation and hearing the audio, we decided that it definitely warranted another investigation.

We went back for a few daytime investigations to make sure we knew where things were…….stop signs, anything with reflectors, things that could make different sounds, things that could possibly make the sounds we heard on the audio.

We did not find anything that could make those sounds on the audio.

We are currently going over some of our new video and audio of our night time investigation and will post as soon as possible any findings. Keep checking back for more news.
